Free Guided History Walk: River Walk

Discover the stories woven into the banks of the Swan River on this free guided walking tour from Point Reserve to Success Hill and back. Led by our knowledgeable local history volunteer, Chris, you'll enjoy a lovely riverside stroll while uncovering fascinating tales of the people, places and architecture that helped shape Bassendean. Along the way, you'll pass historic homes, learn about their former owners, explore natural features, and hear how the Swan River once served as the lifeblood of the town, playing a vital role in its commercial success, social life and enduring character.

-Meeting point: Point Reserve, Bassendean (near the public toilets)
-What to wear: Comfortable walking shoes, a hat and SunSmart clothing
-What to pack: A water bottle
-Preparation: Please ensure you eat a good meal before this walk to keep your energy up
-Items provided: Sunscreen, insect repellant and first aid items are available if needed on the walk.
-Keep in mind: We will be walking on footpaths and near traffic. Please keep an eye out for pedestrians using the footpath and where possible, please refrain from walking or standing on the road. Please also refrain from bringing pets on the walk.

• Event cancellation - in case of poor/ extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances, participants will be contacted on details provided when booking.

• Walks are wheelchair and pram friendly. Children under 16 attending a guided walk must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

• Participants walk at their own risk, your safety is your responsibility. Where possible, avoid walking and standing on the road.

• You hold the Town and its employees, servants, and agents free from all liability, causes of action, debts, claims and demands of every kind and nature whatsoever which may arise out of, or in connection with, participation in the guided walk.
