Decomposition Detectives - An October School Holidays Event

Past Event

Decomposition Detectives’ brings out children’s curiosity and builds their knowledge. Science-based, children will use investigative skills to make fascinating discoveries about ongoing cycles of breakdown and new life in nature, including what’s really going on a worm farm! From there, we’ll make a foray into the Arts - with opportunities for creative expression in words, collage and colours, with a focus on fun!

  1. Looking at shapes and colours of natural materials.
  2. Identify organic and non-organic things.
  3. Tools for examining what’s going on!
  4. Bugs and microbes - so small we can’t see them.
  5. This activity will look at the size of worms, the world they live in and observe worms moving.
  6. Making worm shapes using threads, yarns, ribbons.
  7. Seeing worm shapes in everyday objects.
  8. Materials will be provided for crafting and creating. From compostable coffee cups, to coloured plastic waste through to using pencils and pastels with recycled paper
